I began to build guitars and guitar-related instruments as an extension of my love for the instrument. From the
first guitar to the almost 100 that I have built since I started to build in 2000, it has been a continuous learning
experience. I have taken workshops with wonderful luthiers like Kenny Hill and Greg Byers, and sought advice
from countless others. I must say that I was and continue to be surprised and delighted at the generosity of my
fellow builders in sharing their knowledge and experience.  I will endeavor to have the same.

My instruments are as well-made and good-sounding as I can build them. Each instrument I build is unique. (I
have found this to be true even if I consciously try to replicate one that I built before.) I make every guitar,
renaissance guitar, baroque guitar, 19th Century guitar, or vihuela for myself - even if it's on commission and
therefore for someone else. The pricing is a "break-even price" for me. What I want to have is a hobby that pays
for itself. The price of my guitars, therefore is quite a bit less than a comparable instrument made by a luthier
who is trying to make a living from his building - the reasonable price is not reflective of lower quality.

I have made instruments for colleges and universities, and have made instruments that are being played by
professional musicians.
